We’ll have considerable cloudiness across Southwest Florida this Christmas Eve with only a few breaks of sunshine.

Highs will be in the upper 70s with the chance of a light shower through the afternoon and into the evening hours.

Most areas will not see any rainfall today, and those who do will see only light rainfall of a tenth of an inch or less.

A cold front approaches the region for Christmas Day with increasing humidity and a better chance of showers.

Lows tonight will be in the middle 60s with highs Friday very close to 80 degrees with mostly cloudy skies.

Winds will be from the southeast today around 15mph, and from the south on Friday from 15-20mph.

Rainfall chances persist through the holiday weekend, though the cold front does settle across far Southern Florida by Saturday.

This will allow some cooler air to filter into the region with highs in the lower 70s and lows back in the 50s.

Travel problems will be severe today through Christmas weekend across the nation.

The worst travel problems today will be in the Midwest and Great Lakes where snow and ice will disrupt air travel.

Farther south, severe thunderstorms across parts of the western Gulf coast will delay flights.

This weekend, the travel problems affect the Great Lakes and mid-Atlantic states with snow north and ice toward Virginia through the Nation’s capital.

For Southwest Florida, next week will hold the chance of a few more showers by mid-week with temperatures in the 70s.
